ENVIRONMENT MANAGEMENT AND HUMAN RIGHTS (PART-01)
Environment
--------------------------------

Environment:
_ Surrounding in which we are living
_ Includes living components (animals, plants) and non-living components (soil, air, water etc.)

(Picture – 1 environment segmentation)

ATMOSPHERE:
_ Protective blanket of gases, surrounding the earth
_ It sustains life on the earth
_ The atmosphere composed of nitrogen (78%) and oxygen (21%) in large quantity along with small percentage of other gases such as argon (0.93%), carbon dioxide (0.04%), and trace gases
_ Earth is the only planet in the solar system with an atmosphere that can sustain life

LITHOSPHERE:
_ It is the outer mantle of the solid earth. It contains minerals occurring in the earth’s crust and the soil.
_ The coolest and most rigid part of the Earth.
_ It extends to a depth of about 60 miles (100 km).
_ Three main layers: crust, mantle and core  Crust is the outer most layer

HYDROSPHERE:
_ Comprises all water resources such as ocean, seas, lakes, rivers, reservoirs, icecaps, glaciers, and ground water.
_ 71% of Earth is covered with water
_ salt water (97%)

BIOSPHERE:

_ It constitutes the realm of living organisms and their interactions with the environment (atmosphere, hydrosphere, and lithosphere)
